About Us
Working Dogs of Tejas is led by Matt Marcum
Matt has been working professionally with dogs since 1995. He is currently a full-time trainer working strictly from the referrals of satisfied clients. Matt spends every day working with dogs in many different settings from in-home obedience lessons and solving behavioral issues for the pet owner to work in the field assisting those interested in K9's and the sporting dog. The time Matt has spent training has given him the opportunity to learn about the extraordinary ways that dogs communicate with people. It is his understanding of dog behavior and communication that has made him a successful trainer. In 1999, Matt and his shepherd, Max, were ranked second nationally in the K9 Pro Sports League. While training full-time Matt has held dual licenses with the state as a private investigator and a guard dog trainer. He is committed to the police dog and their handlers as he continues to help develop safe techniques for felony apprehension and narcotics detection. At Working Dogs of Tejas, Matt helps people create a firm foundation to begin sports like PSA, Schutzhund and Ring Sport.
